Sausage Fest

Sausage Fest is an annual fundraiser hosted by the Walla Walla Catholic Schools. It is held on the DeSales High School campus during the first weekend of October. Proceeds from this year's event will be used for capital improvements to the entrance at Assumption School. For more information go to wallawallasausagefest.com.

2009 Sausage Fest Thank You

Make friends with the angels, who though invisible are always with you. Often invoke them, constantly praise them, and make good use of their help and assistance in all your temporal and spiritual affairs.
Saint Francis de Sales

I selected this quote to begin my “Sausage Fest thank you” because to me the WWCS community is full of angels.   Temporal means the things of this world and spiritual means, with regards to Sausage Fest, helping maintain the sanity of all those in charge, especially when Mother Nature decides to send the storm of storms our way.

Angels come in all different ages, and from all walks of life.

The 7th annual Walla Walla Sausage Fest held the weekend of October 2nd was a success because of:

The students –who set up, cleaned, made salads, performed, jumped in and did whatever was asked of them whenever they were asked, parked cars in the rain, created beautiful pieces of art for the eye to enjoy, kept the bathrooms stocked and cleaned  and cleaned the pots and pans and left the kitchen sparkling.

The teachers who so unselfishly and flawlessly offered their help and the help of their students and who gracefully allowed the disruption to their daily routine.

The parents who so graciously offered their time and talent to help ensure that our school system will continue to be there for the students in the years to come.

Mrs. Michels - who deserves a special thanks – for once again bringing out the best in the students, resulting in a very smooth fundraiser from beginning to end.

Mr. Richard, Mr. Castoldi and Mr. Juarez who can always be relied upon to perform the extra stuff quietly and efficiently.

Our administrators and school staff: Dr. Schmitz, Mr. Lesko, Mrs. Kuntz, Mrs. Duncan and Mrs. Daltoso who support the WWCS Sausage Fest crew 100% and make our work so much easier.

The list could go on and on and on.  The bottom line is this – the WWCS community is full of angels and I hope that everyone reading this will take a moment today or in the next few days to thank the people – teachers, administrators, parents, citizen volunteers and financial benefactors - who work so very hard for you.  Their efforts keep our schools open for each of you. If you can’t thank them in person toss up a prayer of thanksgiving and, while you’re at it a prayer asking God to continue to watch over them and to guide them with grace.

Following my own advice, I say to you “Thank you from the bottom of my heart”!

Tammie Buchanan-Herron will be stepping down from her position as Advertising chair in 2010 after 8 years at the helm.  She is super organized and would like to have someone jump on board to shadow her for Sausage Fest 2010.  The groundwork is laid; the new person would just follow the outline!

Dan Roach is stepping down after 7 years of running the Beer Garden.  Mike Prior has generously stepped up to continue the fun.  Thank you, Dan and Mike.

If you are interested in jumping on board and joining the Sausage Fest committee for 2010 we have some positions that need to be filled. Please contact Steve Ruthven and/or Jacquie Roach.

I hope I did not miss anyone.  Thanks a million for an amazing job well done!
