The Walla Walla Catholic Schools welcome international students from all over the world. The school has been a home away from home throughout the years for students from Europe, Asia, and Latin America.
Founded in 1864 the Walla Walla Catholic Schools provide an “Education for Life; Where Every Student is Needed and Every Student is Important”. Our mission is to educate the whole person, academically, physically, socially, and spiritually. We value and recognize every student’s gifts, abilities, and contributions. We give our students the best we have to offer and expect them to give us the best they have to offer.
With a student teacher ratio of 8:1 our faculty, staff, counselors, and coaches offer all students individualized attention and care. You will be guided to make the best choices to enhance your academic standing, receive many one-on-one college counseling sessions, and encouraged to participate in our athletic teams, extra-curricular activities, and community service. We have formed partnerships with Whitman College and Walla Walla University that allows our qualified students to attend classes at these schools and receive college credit while they are still in high school. This is a wonderful opportunity to experience an American college or university while still receiving the support of being a high school student.
Housing and Location
We provide housing in the form of “homestays” where students live with a Walla Walla Catholic School host family. All host families go through a rigorous application process to assure international students and their parents that they will be well cared for. Our host families provide accommodations and meals, but more importantly, they provide guidance, friendship, and a sense of belonging.
The Walla Walla Catholic Schools are located in the heart of the beautiful Walla Walla Valley. We have beautiful wide open spaces and many bike and hiking paths. Bluewood ski area is located within a 45 minute drive from Walla Walla and it not only provides excellent skiing, but is very affordable. In 2011 Rand McNally corporation awarded us the friendliest small town in the United States. This year we were awarded as one of the top ten small towns with the best food. In 2012 the American Planning Association voted Walla Walla to be a city filled with great neighborhoods. Whitman College, Walla Walla University, and our local Community College provide rich experiences in the arts and lecture series with nationally recognized speakers. We have three performing art centers, a Chamber Music Festival, a new Shakespearean acting company, and the oldest Symphony west of the Mississippi. Last, we are a few hours car drive from four large cities: Seattle, Portland, Spokane, and Richland.
